Komet Trailer Convention Special - Come visit us at booth # 202 to see the latest Komet trailer. We are offering this display unit at a special price.

01/20/04
The latest news from Anschau, the manufacturer of the KOMET trailers in Germany, is that we are to expect a price increase in 2004.

Similar to last year we will be displaying the new Komet trailer at the Air Expo 2004 convention in Atlanta. We look forward to all of you stopping by to see the new Komet trailer and discussing the advantages we offer over the competition.

Service Bulletin: On some of the very old trailers people might get leaks through the rivets, which are on the outside of the top, holding the Fiberglass shell to the safety frame. These rivets have rubber washers under the large heads, which are starting to deteriorate. We have the rivets, 5mm diameter and 25mm long, and the rubber washers. The mandrel needs to be punched out first, so the drill will not wander. Then the rivet is drilled out with a # 9 drill and replaced. It might be good to use an intermediate size drill first, to get a better pilot hole.

The Latest News from Anschau in Germany
(The Manufacturer of the KOMET Trailer)

First of all, the model names have changed somewhat.  It has been somewhat confusing for our customers to distinguish between the KOMET and the KOMET-Standard

The KOMET-Standard, which is the economy model reminiscent of the older KOMET trailers with truss construction on the lower side panels, which are planked with textured aluminum sheet, has not changed.  It is still a popular choice for customers with a limited budget.  Although it has a wooden floor and in the basic configuration does not include side rails to support the wing dollies, all of the popular options are available at a nominal charge.  Most of the KOMET trailers in this country fall into this category because they have quite a few years of faithful service to their credit.

The former KOMET, the top-of-the-line model with the lower side panels fabricated from double walled aluminum extrusions, has a new name.  It is now the KOMET-Classic.  For those of you who were attracted by metal floors, a solid, 3 mm thick aluminum sheet floor is an available option without additional charge.  The reason why this floor is not of a metal-foam sandwich construction is that it, just like the KOMET-Standard, still has the tried and true welded grid support in the bottom, which gives it incredible stiffness and strength even without the floor.  In other words, the floor does not have to contribute to the stiffness because it is not structural.

A new model was introduced at a show in Germany and found unparalleled acceptance.  The number of sales booked at this show alone caused the manufacturer to worry about having to expand their facilities.  The name of this new trailer is the KOMET Euro-Light. It uses revolutionary assembly techniques which save a considerable amount of weight.  For people who tow their trailer with a car rather than a truck, this is an attractive feature.  Of course, this is more important for the Europeans, who have to worry about gas consumption more than we Americans, but we are confident that it will find wide acceptance in this country as well.

We are continuing to build up our stock of popular items to be able to serve our customers better and give people confidence that help is just a phone call or an E-mail message away.
